"Are you on your period? I'm not sleeping with you!"
Or I'm going. After all, it's a very individual matter. But one thing is certain: it's high time to put to rest the belief that men simply don't feel like having sex with their menstruating partners. The fact is that almost every man we've had the opportunity to talk to on this subject claims that menstruation is not an obstacle for him, while at the same time admitting to being afraid that he could cause his partner pain or, even worse, negatively affect her health. Perhaps this is a reflex deeply rooted in the human psyche - the appearance of blood means that someone is being hurt. And yet it's pure biology! So if you yourself don't mind having sex "on those days", don't be afraid to talk about it.
“At least you can’t get pregnant during your period.”
The fact that during menstruation, one of the female reproductive organs is cleansed so that its owner can remain fertile (surprisingly, men are perfectly aware of this connection!) does not mean that fertilization cannot occur. It is simply less likely. Although this has been known for a long time, most men still receive this news with considerable surprise, or even disappointment.
"And the blood flows in streams..."
Maybe you've seen the latest adaptation of Stephen King's "It" and remember the scene where the main character shows her friends a bathroom that looks like a red tsunami wave has passed through it. It seems that men imagine their period more or less like that. When asked how much blood their partners lose each month, they shyly measure it in liters. However, we remind you and reassure you - the total amount of blood lost during a period is on average between two tablespoons and half a cup (read: 9 facts about menstruation).
“It’s best to stay out of her way these days.”
Women know perfectly well that feeling worse does not end with PMS. Men seem to understand and accept this, but simply, "for their own good", they prefer to withdraw for a while. They are simply afraid, even if they joke about it, that any inappropriate word or behavior can cause a storm. That is probably why it seems to you that while you are going through a hard time, your partner is not paying enough attention to you or is unusually passive.
“I just hope she doesn’t make me buy inserts.”
He doesn't have to - he can order them on our website. :) But seriously: most men take a deep breath when they see a shopping list that includes intimate hygiene products. And it's not at all that they're a little embarrassed, that it's not manly to bump into a colleague at the checkout. They simply don't know what to buy! Thirty minutes of standing in front of a shelf overloaded with packages of different types of tampons and pads can make many a male representative feel dizzy.
“Everything hurts then, everything!”
It turns out that men take women's ailments really seriously, and are even concerned about them. This is because during menstruation, their partners seem exceptionally fragile and oversensitive, including physically. In addition, they don't really know how to help them and whether any efforts will not be met with a violent, unfavorable reaction. The control question "Does your stomach hurt a lot?" may therefore really mean "Can I really hug you?"
As you can see, "these days" are not only difficult for women. What may not be the most pleasant, but is completely natural for them, men cannot quite comprehend. Therefore, a little more mutual understanding and healthy humor will also be good for everyone in this case.
