Okay. The baby is born and we're going to visit. So what? Gifts. GIFTS. It would behoove us not to leave anyone out. We already know more or less what a new mother needs , but what is the ideal gift for a young father? What could a man who has just added to his family want? Who - although he has not physically given birth to a child - will finally face being a parent on an equal footing with his mother (we hope!) and on whose shoulders will rest the responsibility of protecting his little flock?
Of course, we can't reach for gift ideas analogous to those for new mothers. I don't even want to think about what would be the equivalent of jewelry with a drop of milk!

A gift for a young dad – a shortcut
The first thing that comes to mind is alcohol. I don't know if it's a matter of the country we live in, but it's actually the most popular gift for a father. When I think of a new father, the words "alcohol" and "belly buttons" automatically pop into my head. I asked male friends who have children if they received any gifts for the birth of their child, and the answers they gave didn't surprise me in the slightest. As you might guess, they received bottles of alcohol or... nothing. Nobody bothers with something like a gift for a new father. How sad! It's not so bad if alcohol is an investment - because there are, for example, limited vodkas that gain value over time, literally and figuratively. Every year of aging translates into a better price when potentially selling such a bottle.
But if the alcohol is given for lack of other ideas or – even worse – is accompanied by the text “You can use it now!” or something like that, then it’s probably better to get nothing. That’s why I’ve been thinking about the subject and I have a few other suggestions for dads.
Bathrobe
A bathrobe is the perfect gift for a new dad for many reasons. First of all, it creates ideal conditions for kangaroo care, which is very important in the first days of a baby's life. Baby and dad maintain "skin-to-skin" contact, and the bathrobe also provides warmth. The perfect situation! Besides, when you get up at an outrageous hour for the umpteenth time, it's good to have something to throw on. As a parent, you never know when (or if) you'll be going back to bed. :)
Socks or slippers – reliable gifts for dad
It's a very similar situation to the dressing gown. Okay, maybe slippers aren't as invaluable for kangaroo care, but it's certainly a good idea to have some good socks on in case you have to walk around on cold tiles for a long time while trying to get your little human to sleep.
I know, I know, socks, a tie or a mug are the most ridiculed gifts for dad. A standard set for Father's Day, holidays, name days and other special days. But you can have a little fun with this idea and buy, for example, socks with a baby motif - with pacifiers or bottles.
Care for Dad
According to the rule: show me a man's face and I'll tell you how many children he has. Okay, I don't know if there is such a rule, I think I just made it up. But if there was, it would be worth taking care of the proper care of the body of a new father. A good scrub, cream with SPF or a gel for everything, as is most often the case with men's gels - such a set of products will not make a huge revolution in the care of a young father, but it will definitely help you take care of yourself in express mode. You can get inspired by the excellent set of men's care from the girls from PiggyPEG .
Massage
This doesn't even need explaining. After all, who doesn't like massages? Probably no one! A dad like that has to carry quite a lot: his own kilograms, the child's kilograms, the mother's kilograms (if, for example, she has to be helped into the bathtub during childbirth), kilograms of shopping and many more kilograms. So it's nice to massage those aching joints and muscles. It's best to go to a proven specialist.
Men's night out
Hey, how about packing up and going to the Bieszczady Mountains? Or at least to your grandparents. Or your girlfriends. Anywhere, as long as you leave your father alone. If you want to give such a gift to a young father (or rather make it possible), help clear the house of the mother and children for a while. It will be a good opportunity to take a break from each other and even miss him a little! :) Obviously: this is not a gift for the first moments with a new family member. But when the emotions have subsided, preferably after the postpartum period, it is worth considering such madness.
Adventure Gifts for the Active Dad
This is in case fatherhood is not extreme enough for someone. An unusual gift idea for a young dad would definitely be an adrenaline rush – a parachute jump, a bungee jump or, less extreme, a climbing or mountain hiking course. Although of course, these are not gifts for everyone.
Stressed Dad Gadgets
It's not about erotic gadgets, because who would think about that :P But all kinds of logical puzzles or manual anti-stress toys are a great activity when you want to change your train of thought from diaper-related to ANYTHING ELSE.
A symbolic gift
A treat for fans of unusual gifts. It could be, for example, a set of tools to pass on to the next generation – some keys, screws (as many as possible, in different sizes), cables that are useful for absolutely nothing… Just a handyman's trunk. Unfortunately, such gifts require some kind of thread of understanding to be well understood. This is not the best option for a neighbor if you are not on friendly terms.
Thermo mug
After all, Dad will also be spending a lot of time in the park, so why not with a warm coffee in hand? A good mug is worth its weight in gold, as long as it has a large capacity.
Once again, I will suggest that it is a good idea to buy gifts after the child is born. Wait, see what the parents' real needs are, and only then choose the right gift.
If none of the gifts listed here for a young father have convinced you, then maybe it's worth betting on books? It could be a classic, it could be fantasy, or maybe the book "Welcome to the Club" , which will definitely come in handy sooner than anyone thinks. This particular book is about girls growing up, but education has no gender... :)
