A hair's breadth from taboo
When I was about 16 and I was going to the beach with my boyfriend for the first time, I had a really stupid idea. Raised at the turn of the 20th and 21st centuries, when everything tanned, depilated and shiny celebrated its triumphs, I was convinced that femininity = smoothness . And I, a pale blonde, when you really look closely, had a few darker hairs on my stomach...
I put on a two-piece swimsuit and stood in front of the mirror. The “Path of Pleasure” (I think that’s what they call it in Harlequins) stood out against my pale skin (or rather, it seemed to me). The hairs were single, slightly longer – I was sure the razor wouldn’t be able to catch them. Without much time to think, I reached for my mother’s tweezers.
To this day, as a reminder of my teenage desire to fit in with other people's standards, I have a few brown spots under my belly button. They are scars from hairs that were too thin and weak to penetrate the layers of the epidermis: they grew in, and later there was inflammation, pus, blood, scab... The scars are barely visible to the naked eye, it's possible that now only I can see them. Just like those unfortunate hairs back then.

Shaving – you can, you don’t have to!
I didn't tell you this not-so-pleasant story to discourage you from shaving.
I only care that you know more than I did before shaving and that you are guided solely by your own needs. Notice that the hairs didn't bother me until I had to show them to someone.
Your hairstyle – your business. A storm of curls? Great! A hedgehog? Why not? Smooth and hairless? Also nice.
It is not without reason that nature decided to equip us with pubic hair in intimate places:
- They provide natural protection against various types of bacteria and other harmful external factors.
- They protect intimate areas from irritation caused by synthetic underwear, as well as abrasions, which can be a painful side effect of intense sex.
Shaving intimate areas is primarily an aesthetic issue – some people simply prefer to have their hair removed in these areas. Others are not bothered by it at all, so it does not interfere with its natural growth. Both options are OK!
At the same time, it should be remembered that shaving itself can cause skin irritation and ingrown hairs. When shaving, the razor blade often cuts not only the hair but also touches the skin, while the regrowing hair often does not have the strength to break through the epidermis, which causes an outbreak of red spots. People with dry and sensitive skin, with a weakened natural protective barrier, are primarily at risk of this. In turn, in people with combination or oily skin, lack of attention can result in clogged pores and inflammation.
Know not only your preferences but also the needs of your body. Take care of the safety of the procedure so that you can enjoy smooth skin with peace of mind.

How to properly shave intimate areas?
It is better not to do it without proper preparation!
Here is a comprehensive shaving guide – focused not only on effective hair removal, but also on the good condition of your skin. Get to know Your KAYA products: intimate area scrub and shaving cream , which brilliantly combine both of these features and are taking the hearts (and bathrooms!) of more and more people satisfied with their performance by storm.
- Before the treatment, I highly recommend a warm bath , which is intended not only to relax you, but also to open the pores of your skin and soften the epidermis and hair.
- While bathing , do a gentle but thorough peeling – this way you will get rid of dead skin. For sensitive skin, such as the skin on the pussy or penis , it is worth reaching for a product with a short, natural composition.
- After thoroughly drying the hairs with a towel, trim them with scissors (if they are too long). This will make it easier to maneuver the razor later.
- And what to shave intimate areas with? Good that you asked! The right tool is half the battle.
A disposable razor, as the name suggests, should not be reused. However, as we know very well, theory is one thing, and life is another …
If you decide to use the razor again, disinfect it thoroughly before and after shaving (you can buy a disinfectant spray at the chemist's for a few zlotys). Such equipment left in an inappropriate place is just begging to become a breeding ground for bacteria and fungi. Make sure that the razor is not constantly wet, it is best to keep it in a closed cabinet or container. Replace it regularly! If you care about the environment and have some extra cash, go for an electric razor . You will minimize the risk of cutting yourself to practically zero! An additional option is a reusable razor , in which only the blades are replaced.
- Proper glide is the key to success. Grab your shaving cream ! Not only does it take care of skin hydration during the procedure, it also naturally indicates the places that the razor has not yet reached. But which cream to choose ? With a simple, natural composition.
It is important to shave in the direction of hair growth . Running the razor in the opposite direction can irritate the skin and ultimately cause inflammation.
- Don't press the razor too hard on your skin! Be thorough and patient. Rushing is the best way to cause irritation after shaving your bikini line, which is what we're trying to avoid!
- Even if you strictly adhere to all the above rules, be aware that the skin is irritated and delicate after the treatment, which is why it requires appropriate care - thanks to this, it will be able to regenerate faster. A short, cool shower after depilation will close the pores and reduce the risk of irritation.
- Remember to wipe yourself towards the anus, and not the other way around – from the anus to the intimate area. Do it gently, without rubbing hard. And of course, with a personal, dedicated towel!
- Don't forget about skin care after shaving! Redness and red bumps after shaving will become just a memory if you take care of proper hydration.
If you are struggling with the problem of red bumps after intimate shaving - read the article about ways to soothe and get rid of them here .
- Don't forget about cotton, "breathable" underwear , as well as light, airy clothing, especially on warm summer days.
- If you plan on sunbathing, then after shaving your intimate areas, take care of sun protection. Do not expose them to the sun for at least 24 hours, and after that time regularly apply a cream with a high filter!
