Rule one: peace
Irregular periods , a small selection of wedding venue dates or just plain absent-mindedness - all of this can make you realize a few days before the wedding that you'll miss your period on your big day. And you'll panic.
“Postponing!” – this thought will probably be the first to pop into your head. Unfortunately, the dates of the celebrations are usually rigid, so you will focus on postponing your period with pills. However, instead of reading about it on the Internet – make sure to go to a gynecologist. Using medications without prior consultation with a specialist can cause you even more problems.
That's why in this article we don't focus on postponing, but on tips that will help you enjoy your wedding despite your period and protect you from potential problems.
First, take a deep breath and try to relax. True, in this case, NOT only calmness will save you, but it's a good place to start.
Say yes to the menstrual cup
Wedding hall toilets are usually small, and wedding dresses are huge – and white, to boot. This is a bad combination for your period. Every time you change intimate hygiene products, you risk staining your wedding dress. That is why the best solution is something that does not require frequent replacement, namely… a menstrual cup . It is usually emptied every 5 to 12 hours. It is tight, unnoticeable and does not move while dancing. If you have any doubts about the cup, we are here to help – you will find answers to all your questions here.
NOTE! Be sure to test the cup a few months before the wedding. Its correct application is easy, but requires practice ( read about it here ).
Safety, or period panties
For your mental comfort, it's worth protecting yourself in more than one way. Period panties are the perfect safeguard.
There is an ever-increasing selection of these products on the market. They come in a variety of cuts, colors, and patterns. All of them contain an absorbent layer that absorbs blood and prevents leakage. They also provide great comfort, which is important when dancing. With a traditional dress, we recommend white or nude panties – you don’t have to worry about them being see-through. And if you want to feel sexy (yes, it’s possible to do that during your period!), look for lace or mesh panties.
First aid kit in a bag
During the ceremony, carry a bag with a supply of pads, tampons, intimate wipes and painkillers. The temple won't give you a headache - and neither will your stomach!
Support
Take advantage of the support of your maid of honor and ask her for two favors.
First: joint trips to the bathroom. Dealing with a huge dress on your own is difficult, and without a period. During bleeding, someone who can unbutton or hold the tulle will come in handy. For better communication, establish a password after which you will always go to the bathroom together.
Second: observation! Let him look at the back of your dress more often than everyone else. Nothing calms you down before you go out into the middle of the room like the words: "the back is fine."
Wedding schedule points
Have you planned a lot of wedding attractions? Include a check of the panty situation in your schedule. Emotions are often so strong that brides forget to go to the toilet! And the combination of menstruation and a white dress requires systematic checking. If you plan when you need to go to the toilet (for example, before the first dance, before the wedding ceremony) and arrange it with the maid of honour, you will avoid unpleasant surprises.
Spare dress
Advice for the most cautious: a spare outfit that you can stash in your car or vanity cabinet. Its main purpose is to give you peace of mind – because if you follow other advice, the risk of staining your wedding outfit will be minimal.
First aid kit for guests
Okay, once you've made sure your period won't ruin your wedding, think about your guests. Prepare a menstrual kit with pads, tampons, and intimate wipes for them and leave it in the bathroom. A small gesture, but it can make them happy.
Wedding night
We managed to survive the ceremony without any mishaps, but what happened next? Although the reports suggest that the wedding night is mostly about sleeping, it is still appropriate to mention the post-wedding sex.
If you don't like having sex during bleeding and worrying about dirty sheets, consider a menstrual disk. It is flexible and is inserted into the vagina right at the vault. After insertion, you can have sex without worrying about leaks or stains.
But what if…?
It is possible that after reading the advice you will still have concerns: "What if it leaks anyway?" Then think about what you are afraid of. Is it that someone will see it? After all, there will be adults at the wedding who have probably experienced a period stain mishap themselves, and if they notice it on you... they will offer you help. Chin up!
