“Nothing human is alien to me [us!]” – one might say, looking at our text portfolio. This is absolutely true: and although these words were spoken by a Roman comedian, today I am taking you on a journey through the secrets of Greek love .
This is how anal sex is sometimes referred to . Incidentally, in ancient Greece, love between two people with penises (as opposed to heterosexual intercourse) was something without taboos or social expectations. Demosthenes wrote: "We keep mistresses for pleasure, concubines for our daily care, but wives so that they may bear us legitimate children and be faithful guardians of our homes." Brrr!
Let's remember, however, that anal sex has no gender - it's about stimulation of the anus area, and the configuration in which it is performed has no significance.
Anal intercourse often raises many concerns, doubts, and controversies (in no particular order). From an anatomical point of view, however, it is nothing shocking.
The anus area is an erogenous zone!
Erogenous zones are those points on the body that are sensitive to touch and whose stimulation can lead to sexual arousal .
The anus has a rich nerve network around it, including the anal nerves branching from the pudendal nerve.
Anal sex may or may not involve inserting an erect penis into the anus of the partner. It doesn't have to, because instead, you can use various kinds of "toys" and gadgets.
Within this type of stimulation we can distinguish, among others:
Pegging
During pegging, one person penetrates the other using a strap-on (a dildo attached to the belt or panties).
Fisting
During fisting, one partner inserts their entire hand into the other person's anus. It is worth emphasizing that this should not be the first type of anal sex you have.
Fisting done incorrectly (to put it bluntly: without proper lubrication and honest communication between partners during the session) can be painful, especially if you jump straight into the deep end – a better option is to gradually increase the volume and get to know the capabilities (or limits) of your body.
Rimming
During rimming, the anus area is stimulated with the tongue. This "technique" is probably the most feared, precisely because of the contact between the mouth and the anus, which is associated with the risk of transmitting fecal bacteria into the interior and further into the digestive system.
As for gadgets – there are many of them available on the market, and among them we can mention, among others, various types of anal plugs (for example metal, silicone, vibrating) or massagers . If you feel like you want to try introducing them to the bedroom – go ahead!
Remember, however, that in order to enjoy playing with gadgets, you need to consciously approach the issue of using them and ensure proper hygiene .
It's completely understandable to feel uncertain, especially if you're just starting out, discovering your sexuality, and anal intercourse is the next unknown stop.
Many people are simply afraid of anal sex, or rather of the possible discomfort , pain or transmission of sexually transmitted diseases . Many questions arise in my head, and I will try to answer the (I think) most common and key ones.
Ready?
Okay, let's call a spade a spade. Many people are put off by anal sex because of... poop .
(Or rather, possible contact with it during rectal intercourse).
Defecation
Taking care of your diet and drinking the optimal amount of water during the day (assuming you do not have other ailments that disrupt bowel function) should ensure that you have regular and proper bowel movements every day.
If you think that's not enough, you can (but you don't have to!) do an enema . What is it?
An enema involves pouring a liquid (water or aqueous solutions, such as salt) into the colon, which allows the removal of residual feces. It can be performed at home using a special bulb with a canister (a plastic, metal or rubber tube).
If this is your first time with an enema, talk to your doctor before doing it. He or she may suggest other, alternative forms to support bowel function and effective bowel movements.
A properly performed home enema should not pose any health risk, but when performing it, you should remember a few very important rules, for example, to ensure proper hydration of the body and hygiene of the rectal enema tool in advance!
The anal area does not produce natural lubrication (like the vagina, which produces cervical mucus during sexual arousal, or the penis, which produces pre-ejaculate).
For this reason, it is crucial to provide sufficient slippage to facilitate intercourse, enhance pleasurable sensations, and prevent chafing, which in turn reduces the likelihood of transmitting sexually transmitted diseases.
Choose silicone or water-based lubricants .
- Silicone lubricant is more durable, provides stronger glide, and can even be used in water. This is the best option for anal sex, but remember that silicone lubricant should not be used with silicone gadgets - there is a risk of damaging them.
- Water-based lubricant provides proper hydration, imitating the natural secretion of mucus resulting from sexual arousal. It is gentle, non-irritating, but absorbs quite quickly.
Both forms are safe to use with condoms, unlike oil-based lubricants which can damage latex.
To truly enjoy sex, your psychological comfort and sense of security are key . This can be ensured by using a condom, which prevents the transmission of sexually transmitted diseases.
A way to relieve tension and fears can be simply to talk to your partner. Communication, building trust, establishing the "rules of the game", informed consent - the order of these figures is random, because they are all equally important and should absolutely not be missing before any sexual intercourse, and anal sex is no exception in this case (see: Why anal sex raises so many doubts ).
